Build campaign URLs you can explain later.
A PPC URL has two jobs: send someone to a useful page and carry the campaign context your measurement setup expects. Start with a documented naming convention, then test what survives the complete click path.
PPC HTML URLDefine a small shared vocabulary
Agree on source, medium, campaign, and optional creative values. Choose a consistent case and separator convention so the same idea does not appear under several names. Keep the campaign meaning understandable to another teammate. Google Analytics documents UTM parameters, but how they interact with your advertising setup still needs to be tested in that setup.
Check how tagging is applied
Some advertising integrations add identifiers automatically. Others use a template or a manually prepared destination. Avoid layering different methods without understanding precedence and collection behavior. Confirm that redirects preserve what is required and do not duplicate parameters. Use the platform’s preview and diagnostic tools when available, then verify the final browser address and recorded event.
Connect reporting to a defined outcome
A visit, click, lead, or purchase is a different event. Define which one you are measuring and how it is collected before comparing campaigns. Parameters label a visit; they do not guarantee that analytics runs, that consent is granted, or that a later outcome can be attributed perfectly. Interpret reports with those limitations in view.
